FAQs

  • Physical therapists are trained healthcare professionals that are experts in the neuromusculoskeletal system, meaning that we are the experts on movement and how our muscles, joints, and nerves function in the body. Physical therapists are trained to help decrease pain, improve strength, and improve overall quality of life by teaching people how to move better. Visit ChoosePT.com for more information and data about the benefits of physical therapy.

  • In Georgia, you are allowed to see a physical therapist for 8 visits or 21 days without a physician’s referral, so no, you don’t! That being said, in order to continue treating you past this limit, we will need either a signed plan of care or prescription for physical therapy from your physician.

  • Dry needling (DN) is a treatment used to help relieve pain caused by trigger points in muscles. Trigger points are tight parts of a muscle that can cause extreme pain, sometimes with referred pain to other parts of the body. DN uses an acupuncture needle that is inserted into the trigger point to cause a twitch reaction, which allows the muscle to loosen and relax. DN has been shown to be an extremely effective method of decreasing pain due to trigger point presence and to allow improved muscle activation. This treatment may be recommended depending on what is found during the physical therapy evaluation.
